Day at the fair!

Every year when the fair rolls around, I can't help but get excited. When I was little, the whole family would meet up at the fair. Aunts and uncles, and cousins, even grandma's and grandpa's. We'd all get the unlimited bands and ride until our hearts were content. We'd eat fair food and always beg our moms for a few dollars to see the attractions that were never real. (see: spider lady, giant man, bearded lady, etc.)

We're all grown up now,  and it's a little harder to all get together. We still got the unlimited bands and ate as much fair food as our tummies could handle (the corn on the cob and funnel cake are my faves!) Dakota even got to ride a few rides and she loved them so much! We spent a dollar or two on the attractions that we've seen countless times before. The best part about the fair though, is that after the fair, the Holiday season is right around the corner! I'm itching to decorate for Christmas, especially this year. No matter how much I want to, we will be waiting until the day after Thanksgiving around these parts. It's just a tradition.

Today is all about pretty dresses! I love day dreaming about outfits, especially with dresses. Girls love dresses, right? Right! These particular dresses have me *swooning*

This pretty dress from Vanilla & Lace is so darling!

I'm not sure what it is about this dress, but I love it! I think it's the big white buttons + white trim. So mod!

This dress would be so perfect for New Years Eve! Sparkly + Swirly perfection!

 This dress from The Velvet Bird is so so magical! I've already requested at least one of her dresses be under the tree this Christmas! 

I'm loving the new Modcloth lookbook, but I especially love this dress. Perfect for some coffee and a trip to the library! 

Find any dresses you like? I hope so! Today is going to be another busy one! Tonight we're going to the Greek Food Festival, and it's one of my favorite things. I look forward to it all year Spanakopita and almond cookies, here I come! Once we go to the Greek Food, the Holidays are in full swing around these parts. Eeep, I'm so excited!!

Halloween; a few tricks and lots of treats!

Yesterday started off less than thrilling. It was a bad morning turned bad afternoon. I must have walked under a ladder or saw a black cat, knocked over some salt, something, because the odds were not in my favor. The horribleness ended with a window shattering in my hands. I'm telling you, I must have broken a mirror sometime within the last 7 years! That's sure what I felt like yesterday. No matter the amount of misfortunes I was having, I was bound and determined to have a great evening. I'd mark the evening as a success in my book!

For the second year in a row, both families came to our house. (We are lucky enough to have our own built in candy passer outers! Thanks Ang + Judah!) Our street is where everyone comes for Halloween. They block off the roads and thousands of kids and families show up. It's kind of magical to watch. Last year Dakota was only barely 3 months old, so things were very different this year than last year. Different in a good way! After pushing her around in her car for all of 3 houses, and carrying her up to a few, she quickly got the hang of it herself. Picture a tiny baby running up to houses with a basket in one hand, the other hand open wide just anticipating getting her share of candy. It was extremely cute. I loved watching her get so excited.

Dakota dressed up as a "moo cow" according to almost everyone we encountered. A few thought she was a Dalmatian, mainly because she wouldn't keep her cow hat on. I dressed up as a bear, even though I got more "oh it's a cat" than I got bear. Nonetheless, the entire evening was great! It ended with some homemade Caramel Apple Cider and a few Goosebumps movies. Maybe even a piece, or two of Dakota's candy. Don't tell! :) Not so great morning turned into the best Halloween yet! ♥

Havana Pumpkin Festival!

This past Saturday we headed over to Havana, a charming, small town on the outskirts of Tallahassee for their annual Pumpkin Festival. Despite it being warmer then I would have liked, and lots of bodies, it was fun! It is an antique town. The main street is lined with brick storefronts, cobblestone paths, and hand painted displays. Like I said, it's so charming!

Before I had Dakota, Bean and I would go up their often on Fridays and browse all the shops. Making sure we ran our fingers across everything, and took it all in. Saturday was no different! Dakota was perfectly well-behaved and hardly made a peep unless we were outside. And to top the day off, I spotted 3 Pugs and countless Boston Terriers! (In case you didn't already know, those are my dream dogs!) Angela sent me a picture of two buggies full of Pugs, kind of bummed I didn't see that though! All in all, it was such a fun day! Hopefully we're adding it to our ever growing list of Fall Traditions ♥

Weekend Recap

Hi and happy Monday! I feel like it has been ages since I've posted last, when in reality its only been a day or so. It has been the nicest weekend/beginning of the week! It was busy without really having any place to go or anything specific to do. So nice!

Saturday was the free entrance to any of the National Parks day, and although we didn't go to a National Park, we did go to the Tallahassee Museum (we like to call it the Jr. Museum). We took our new to Florida neighbors. They have a baby just a few months older than Dakota so it's been so fun having someone so similar living so close. We've already set up a weekly "play-date" and we switch off going to each others house on Friday night. It's really fun and sweet to see the babies play together! After spending the afternoon at the museum looking at old Florida relics and native to Florida animals, and almost DROWNING ourselves in sweat (man it is hot down here!) we went to my moms to eat snacks and watch the game. I kind of love that, that is one of our traditions. I'm hoping to make many more this fall + winter season!

Speaking of hot weather and traditions, Sunday we spent the day tucking away summer treasures (old quilts, paper lanterns, summer pictures, and things of that sort) and started pulling out our fall favorites. I put on a big pot of soup, turned the air down to 65, and lit the first Apple Cinnamon candle of the "season". Hey, I didn't want all our Fall decorating work to go to waste! I even made my own variation of this sweet garland! It's so fun to decorate and redecorate for each season. I love the change of colors and smells, just lovely. It does not, by any means, feel like fall around here. The past few days have been either very overcast/rainy and humid, or sunny and humid. Yuck! Mrs. Mother Nature, pretty please blow some crisp air down this way! I've got a few more things to do before it's finished, but I'm excited. I'll share photos sometime this week. Fall Wishlist

Fall has got my head in a frenzy! These past few days have been so fantasticly fall feeling that I find myself wearing boots and tights as I write this! It might be a bit much, seeing as the high during the day is still 75-80. But I just can't help it!

Fall gets my spirits up, makes me want to go on more adventures, and just genuinely give my soul a happy warm feeling! I even put my "Welcome Fall" plaque with owls on it out today. I quickly took it down when I got to thinking about what the neighbors would think: "Is that lady crazy, shes got layers and it's 89 degrees out, it is not fall." These are the things that go through my mind...... Anyway, I thought it would be fun to shop around and make a fall wishlist! This list includes MANY appearances by the wonderful Modcloth!
