WEARS: NEW GIRL

When I wear this skirt, I hear "it's Jess!" in my head each time I get a glimpse of myself in a mirror or a reflection in a window. If you don't have any clue what I'm talking about...it's okay, up until last week I didn't either, really! It's from a show called New Girl. I watched the pilot when it came out, but never tuned in to watch any other episodes. When I saw season 2 was on Hulu, but season 1 wasn't I was bummed. Then last week I saw that the first season was actually on Netflix. I watched the entire season in 3 days. Basically, she wears a ton of girly things, and lots of polka dots. So this skirt is classic Jess.I think she might actually wear a skirt that looks just like this in an episode. New Girl fans, help me out here! Do you watch New Girl? I know I'm way late on this, but a show with Zooey Deschanel? Nothing better, she's just so adorable!

WEARS: HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTEST

Wow! Long time no blog. Took a little bit of a break there, I suppose. Didn't mean to do that! Today I'm back with an outfit that I wore to what has been taking up so much of my time lately: Angela's Baby Shower. It was totally worth all the time put into it, and we had such a great time. I'll share more on that later, but for now, lets talk about this dress! SO glad I found it on sale at Urban Outfitters. It was just exactly what I was looking for, and I cannot wait to wear it again on a date night with some heeled booties. It has the prettiest details and backing. You know how I feel about the back of my dresses! Onto the next order of business, I chopped off like 4 inches of hair this past Thursday! Yikes! I was having some major anxiety about it, but I am so glad I did it now. It feels so much lighter, and healthier. Alexa Chung and Sara were my hair inspirations.  I really like it!

I'll be back soon to play catch up for the 10-ish days I was absent! Until then, happy day!

WEARS: PLEATS AND CUFFS

When I get something in my mind, that's pretty much it. I'm going to do it/make it happen, to the best of my ability. Sometime a few weeks ago, I got it in my head that I needed a golden arm cuff. A gypsy cuff if you will. I wanted one instantly (which is the way I feel about most things, ha!) so I just had Stephen cut a gold bangle so that I could stretch it to go around my arm. I have worn it constantly for the past week. In love. I'd had this dress sitting in my closet waiting and begging to be worn, and I knew the gold cuff had to go along with it. The back has a pretty button detail, with gold trim. So these two were the perfect pair, in total harmony. And, I really like it when my outfits are in harmony!

WEARS: NUDE, GOLD, AND STRIPES

When Angela and I drove around downtown looking for a place to take pictures, we stopped at this brick wall because we thought it looked purple. When we parked and got out we found out that it's a part of a parking garage and the top is a tiny little rooftop garden place. There is a big industrial statue, flowers and pick nick tables. It's probably the most metropolitan thing our little town has, ha!

Through these pictures it's become apparent to me that I really need to get a new pair of these shoes! My feet are very hard on shoes, and this poor pair didn't escape their fate. Also, my love for stripes will never ever dissipate. And paired with gold tones and a twirly skirt just makes my love for them even stronger!

WEARS: DREAMSICLE HUES

You guys, I have been crushing hard lately on orange. Orange lipstick, orange nail polish, orange dresses and shoes, of course not all at the same time though! I never really considered myself an orange gal until recently. In fact, I remember my grandma wearing orange orange lipstick and thinking it was the strangest thing. Boy am I regretting that now! It's fun to fall in love with something you never thought would, and add it to your mental list of things to look for when shopping. On a totally unrelated note, Stephen accidentally broke my glasses last week, and this is my back up pair. I do not like the way they sit on my face at all, and I am counting down the days until my new pair comes! What colors are you crushing on lately?

WEARS: MEMORIAL DAY

Where again? Striped Top, Forever 21 // Tulle Skirt, Modcloth // Anchor  Bracelet, c/o  August Wrinkle

All I really want to talk about is how much I am in love with this top! Stripes? Check! 3/4 sleeve? Check! Scoop back? Check! I loved it so much that I not only mentioned it in my monthly favorites, I went back and got the white stripes on black version. They also have a white with black stripes that I am trying to convince myself I don't need. The only thing I have a hard time with is that it's super short. So short that it's just barely tucked into my skirt! Also, I think it goes without saying that I love all things anchor/nautical. This bracelet from August Wrinkle is the perfect addition to my collection of anchor jewelry!

CAMPFIRE MAVEN DRESS

It's not really customary for me to post an outfit of a dress I've made before it's even for sale in my shop....but, I'm breaking all the rules today! Actually, I'm in need of your opinion! When I first made this sweet dress with a cutout back, geometric design, and pretty summery hues I knew I wanted it to have ties. Sort of like a children's romper would (I made this dress 100 percent inspired by a romper Dakota has actually!) anyway, when I put the ties on I didn't love it as much as I thought I would. They were a bit bulky, and stuck out of my jean jacket in a weird way. And since I know everyone who buys this dress will be paring it with a jean jacket...nudge, I cut off the ties and added buttons. But I don't know if I love it either. So that is my dilemma. What would you  prefer to see on it? Buttons, ties, or snaps?

WEARS: MINT AND GOLD, OR SO I'M TOLD

where again? jacket, old navy - dress, tjmaxx - shoes, h+m - ring c/o august wrinkle

Stephen and Dakota got me this little dress for Mother's Day, and I'm so smitten with it. I don't know what it is about it, probably that it falls into that cream/beige/lace category (see more about my addiction here) but I just couldn't get it off my mind. I knew I wanted to wear it as my "Special Mother's Day dress," and yes there is such a thing, just ask Stephen. We talked very seriously about it for 20 minutes via text. Anyway, the sweet Jana at August Wrinkle sent me the most beautiful, mint filled package last week, and boy was I excited! Among all the prettiness was a mint and gold ring, and I knew it was just what I needed to pair with my new dress. My mother-in-law even commented on how pretty it was! That's a sweet thing if you ask me! Lately I've been crushin' hard on anything gold, and mint. And coral. And Mustard. And polka dotted. And striped. Oh my! ps- yes, I am aware that my head looks like a lions mane. That's the Florida humidity, y'all.

Happy Sunday! I just love Sundays! The sweet Chloe from the Lazy Explorers blog featured me a little while ago in her Explorer Series! It was basically a month long series with the theme Spring Critters. Hint: I wore bird shorts! You can see the full post here. And if by some crazy chance you aren't following Chloe's blog yet, go, do! Also, I think I fulfilled my exclamation quota for the day in this post. ha!

WEARS: WHITE DRESSES FOREVER

I cannot get enough of white/off-white/lace dresses. I counted, just for this post, and I have 7 currently residing in my closet. Including this beautiful one my mother in law got me for my birthday! It has everything I love in a dress: movement for all the silly dances I like to do, pretty lace details, a brown belt (I firmly believe that any dress can be made better by adding a brown belt, yes, even a black dress!), and buttons up the back. I love a good collar as much as the next girl, but I'm a sucker for a dress that has any pretty back details. And you know what? Even though I have 7 dresses so similar, I find myself searching them out in stores. Looking for the familiar feel of lace across my finger tips as I push clothes past one by one on the rack. I cannot be stopped, and I don't really want to be anyway.

WEARS: PINK MIDI SKIRT

I've wanted a maxi, or midi skirt for such a long time, but I've been holding myself back. I built it up in my head that you needed to either be freakishly tall or super short to wear one. And my 5'9 self felt right in the middle of those two options so I have steered clear. So when I got a gift card to Forever 21 for my birthday, I thought I'd just take a afternoon and try some on, and guess what? I round the perfect one, and fell in love! I'll probably go back and get every color they have, because I'm calling it now...this will be my Spring/Summer go to piece. I've already worn it 4 times since I bought it! Pretty, feminine and breezy, all pluses in my book! And speaking of pluses...this top. Triple peter pan collars, and buttons down the back. 100 percent gold. Stephen got it for me for Christmas, and he doesn't buy me clothes often. But when he does, it's always amazing.

If you want this top for yourself, or anything else from Modcloth, you can get 15 dollars off your purchase, when you create a new account! A n d  a l s o, I already don't like my arms, but seeing them in a sleeveless top is not fun. Know any good arm exercises? Toned summer arms, I long for you!

WEARS: BIRTHDAY TUTUS

So this is it, my beloved birthday outfit! I spent such a long time searching for the perfect pieces to complement each other, it was my 21st birthday after all! When I came across the Going Tulle Be Lovely skirt I was smitten, but a little discouraged because of the reviews. I decided to go ahead and purchase it anyway on a whim, because I believe that every girl needs a nice fluffy skirt in her closet. While it does run a little big, and isn't as fluffy as I'd hoped I still really like it. It's like the grown-up version of a tutu. I felt fancy but not too fancy for the pizza place we were having dinner at.

I had something called The White Album which was uhmazing. White sauce, mozzarella, onions, arugula, truffle oil makes for a yummy pizza. Almost all of my family came (a few people didn't, but I learned later that week why...don't worry I'll share!) and my mom made me an adorable owl cake. She's got a hidden talent for cake making/decorating.  It was so much fun to have all of my friends and family gathered in a tiny pizza joint, laughing, eating and overhearing everyone's conversations because we were so crammed in. Stephen, Dakota and I ended the night by piling in to his new-old truck that only has a bench seat. I was right in the middle of my two favorite people, and at that moment I didn't want to be anywhere else in the world.
