June 22, 2012

This Week I:

-Celebrated Bean's third Father's Day. We don't need a special day each year to tell him how much we love him, because we tell him every chance we get, but it's fun to wake up and make breakfast for him and shower him with little presents and kisses all day!

-Took Dakota for her very first ice cream cone! There's a place here that's local called Lofty Pursuits, and boy are they yummy! I'm sad to say that we've only ever been there once before. This particular day though, we were in no hurry, so we browsed the 4+ pages of ice creamy/milkshake-y/sundae goodness. Did I mention it's all made there, in their shop? Amazing! And if that isn't enough, they make their own candy! Dakota was fascinated watching two guys making lolly pops, by hand. Completely. The icing on the cone was that they let us taste them! They were still warm and so yummy! Added bonus: all the workers were wearing red bowties

-Ate a lot of Mexican food. It's my favorite and I can't get enough.

-Mailed out our wedding invitations!! I cannot wait to get them back! It's a little over two months away, craziness. PS, I plan on sharing a peek of them very soon!

-Am having the hardest time decided what to do about wedding flowers. Originally we were going to go to a florist, but when we saw the quote just for centerpieces (in tin cans we've collected and brought to them!) we were outraged and tried to look elsewhere. I really like the idea of ordering from Fifty Flowers, but I'm terrified of placing the order. A) Because even though we are saving about 500 dollars by ordering from them and not using a florist, it's still quite a big chunk of change to shell out, and B) How do I know I'm ordering the right about of each flower? Yikes! 50 stems of this flower, 100 of this color, 20 bunches of this, and a filler pack? Anyone with floral knowledge is welcome to lend their expertise to me!

-*we have been hanging out at at my moms a lot. It's the college world series, and Bean has been desperately watching FSU in hopes that they'd finally make it to the championship this year. Sadly, the way they played last night didn't award them that privilege.

Hope you all have a happy Friday! xo, Meghan

This Week I:

-Got my wedding dress in the mail. I am so so happy with it. It's beautiful, and exactly what I was hoping it would be! Also, it fits like a glove. I know I took a big risk ordering online and not knowing if I would like it or not, but I'm so glad I did. Because I do love it! It was made for me.

-Bought the cutest scarf + shorts combo at Target last weekend. I am in love with black and white polka dots lately! And as for the scarf, I've worn it probably every day since I bought it. It's so perfect.

-Mailed out our wedding invitations! This morning actually. We choose to forgo Save the Dates, so we're sending out our invitations at the 3 month mark. (a little less than 3 months actually, eep!)

-Am excited to be celebrating Bean's 3rd Father's Day. He really is the greatest, and Dakota + I can't wait to spoil him all day!

-Have really been enjoying the 30 Day Journal Challenge. It's really fresh + inspiring to wake up each morning with a prompt and to sit down with a cup of coffee and just draw! I might not be too good at drawing things, but I really like experimenting with text.  You can see my pages here!

-Took a lot of trips to the woods with Dakota and Bean. It started last Sunday (really, it started when she was a newborn...it was the only way we could get her to go to sleep) when on a whim Bean pulled into the National Forrest across the road from my moms house. Dakota's eyes lit up. We pulled her out of her seat and let her ride up front while we went 5 miles an hour looking for bunnies. She is now in love with 'going to the woods' and if we tell her we're gonna go hunting for bunnies she screams "I saw a bunny! I see bunnies!"

-Found this website via this amazing mama and now I can't stop looking at all the amazing shoes they have. And for SO cheap! Like, I could totally justify buying three or more pairs at one time, because they would total less than a few other pairs I've had my eyes on. I really like these, but I have like 6 pairs on my must get list.

*Also, I am so sad to say that as of today, we no longer will have internet. Until after the wedding. You may, or may not have, noticed that I haven't posted very frequently lately...it's because I knew this day was coming. Instead of doing what I wanted to, which was post a ton, I did the opposite because I'm still kind of sad about it. I hope that not having internet so quickly accessible to us will help me to really think and come up quality content and posts. I don't want this blog to become quite or empty at all. Just because I don't have access to positing as quickly as a like, know that I do plan on still blogging...it'll just be more thoughtful and not as frequent. I plan on positing at least 3-5 times a week, if I can swing it! I have lots of fun things I want to share, especially wedding things.

Hope you all have an amazing weekend! See you soon ;)

This Week I:

find me on Instagram @AhoyNative

-watched Bean drive away for five, FIVE, days. He's going camping with the guys in the family in northern Georgia. I know he's going to have great time, but sure will miss him!

-Closed the book on my very first bible study. Angela, myself, and a group of girls have been doing the Beth Moore Esther study for 9 weeks now, and we celebrated finishing by having a feast of our very own! Everyone brought something decadent, and we all chatted over dinner, and then cupcakes. It was so much fun and I am so blessed to have such a great group of girls in my life. I'm very excited to be starting the James study in two weeks with the same group. Nothing like growing stronger in the word with a bunch of lovely ladies!

-Did a lot of sewing! I made my very first crop top! I'm still not sure how it ended up being cropped, I measured it to full size. I also made a cute little orange gingham dress! And Saturday night I made Dakota and I both matching skirts. The first of many more to come I hope!

-Began a Harry Potter marathon. Bean is away, and doesn't really care for them anyway. Need I say more?

-Experienced Dakota's first every stomach bug + urgent care visit. This girl is normally pretty strong, and if she gets sick, it's usually congestion type and she never lets it hold her back! Well, Tuesday we were at the grocery store and she started crying randomly. Like serious crying, not whining type. As we were unloading the buggy into the car she said "tummy hurts, hurts" so I went to pick her up and before I could she projectile vomited all over me. My bare, shorts wearing leg. Then she proceeded to do it 3 more times before finally stopping. It scared me to death so I called Bean and he said just keep an eye on her and take her in if it gets worse. Well, it didn't get worse. She seemed back to her old self within a matter of minutes! So I figured something she ate upset her tummy and after her episode she felt better. *This is the same night I went to a dinner party for bible study* Bean and her were hanging out while I was at my dinner party. Well I got home at 8:45 and they were not home. Begin panic mode. It didn't help matters that Beans phone had died and I couldn't get in contact with him. I felt like something was wrong, so I sat outside on the steps for almost an hour. Bean finally pulls up at 9:30 and jumps out saying "I'm so sorry." You can imagine my terror. Turns out they were shopping for things for the camping trip and she started to vomit again. A total of 8 times if you want to know how much. He had to take her to urgent care because she was completely dehydrated. Two hours later, a shot of something to keep her food down, and a Gatorade they were on their way home to me. She only threw up one more time after that and now she's back to her happy go-lucky self! Hope that NEVER happens again. Although I'm sure it will.

What have you been up to this week? Tomorrow Angela and I are heading to Gainesville to see Lucero. We're pretty excited! Happy weekend to you! xo, Meghan

This Week I:

find me on instagram @AhoyNative

-Celebrated my 3rd Mothers Day! -Bean showered me with Mothers Day presents and breakfast when I was still pregnant, and it's been the same every year since. This year Dakota painted me a cute box and filled it with a lot of goodies. New CDs, cute fabric, and movies! I'm spoiled.

-Ate lunch almost everyday this week. This is something I'm trying to get used to. I am very bad about drinking coffee throughout the day and not eating anything until dinner. I've been working really hard (this past month) to loose "a few pounds" before the wedding. And after working so hard between running + belling and even the gym and loosing nothing, and feeling really exhausted, I decided I should try to start eating some meals. I'm hoping this helps!

-Had some of Beans friends (and groomsman) over yesterday! We chatted about wedding stuff, tried on wedding clothes, and caught up. They don't come around nearly as much as we'd like, so it was nice to hand out. Dakota didn't recognize either one of them, and was a little shy. Of course, as soon as they left she was saying their names and saying bye bye!

-Went thrifitng at one of my favorite spots! They had so many pretty pre-70s clothes, but almost every single one of them had some yellow stain, or blood spots. I did sneak away with a few gems, and a adorable little shirt for Dakota. My favorite thing about this place is they sell you clothes by the pound, and each pound is like less than 2 dollars. If you go on the right days, you can make out like a bandit.

-Went grocery shopping....without a list. So naturally, I came home with 20 bags of food, and only half of it was useable. I don't like going without making a list of what we plan on eating for the week. So I have to make another trip to the grocery store to get all of the things I forgot the first time!

-Went on an adventure with Angela on Sunday and I'm convinced I have poison ivy. I've never had it before, but Bean has it right now too...from working in his moms yard. Mine doesn't itch, bother me, and is hardly noticeable. That's why I'm so worried about it, because it looks nothing at all like Beans, and doesn't feel like they say poison ivy should look. I think I should go to the doctor!

Today Dakota and I are meeting my mom and Bean's mama at the flower shop. I'm so excited to pick out flowers for the wedding! Tonight we're making nachos and taking a trip to Madison to get Bean's sleeping bag. He's going camping next weekend! What are you up to today?! xo.

-along with Angela are hosting a giveaway over at Brock Paper Scissors, quick, you can still enter!

This week has me feeling super grateful + sappy. I've actually been feeling this way for a few weeks now, and I don't want it to go away! Like the other day, I was started crying for no reason, other than being happy. If you  know me, this is not something  I normally do, so I am okay with feeling this way! Today my cousin is having her baby. I can't wait to go up and see little David. I'm having a little baby fever here lately! Happy Friday! xo, Meghan

This week was a fun, exciting and busy one in terms of wedding planning. I can't believe it's only a little more than 4 months away. So scary/exciting! Tonight Bean is going out of town to a rodeo with his boys (read: his way of asking his groomsmen to "be his groomsmen"), and Dakota is staying the night with her Gigi. I plan on making a pizza and reading a good book or watching a movie. What does your Friday night look like? XO. Meghan

I am looking forward to this weekend. Easter is such a fun time, but also super important in this house. We don't ever want to loose sight of what Easter really means to us. Tonight we are making burgers on the grill. Yum! xo, Meghan

This week seems to have flown by! I guess because everyday this week we were running around doing something. And I've spent every evening after Dakota goes to bed until Bean gets home making things to add to our next show. I know that I will still be running around frazzled tonight trying to get everything ready for tomorrow. I've kind of grown accustomed to it, though! And I would be worried if I was just sitting on the couch at, say, 9 PM watching tv and not making a list, or making something, or double-checking all of the boxes and bags.  You can never be too sure! How has your week been? xo, Meghan
