Toddler Style

Dakota isn't quite at the age yet where she wants to choose her own clothes, but she is at the age where she does not want to be standing in the same spot for more than a minute! She posed so great for the first few frames then after that she was running off after the kitty who lives outside. We had to go in and get a snack, then come back out. So if you see a tiny bit of something on her face, it's Nutella! I have a hard time buying Dakota clothes, because we don't have a lot of cute kid stores around. Um hello, no H&M! And I have a hard time buying clothes online because I hate waiting for them to arrive. Old Navy had a lot of cute stuff right now, according to my mom! She brought this little coat and jacket over, and said they even have it in mommy sizes. I'm thinking matching coats with my best gir!

A Sailing We Will Go!

1. fedora  // 2. socks // 3. denim vest // 4. Essie + OPI // 5. Lauren Moffatt dress // 6. necklace // 7. ship // 8. oxfords

I have always wanted to go sailing! I love the idea of living in a sailboat, waking up somewhere new each day. I'm working on convincing Bean that when we are old and gray we should get a sailboat and travel. He's not one for traveling, so it should be a great challenge! I will not take no for an answer :) I've had an account with Polyvore for a while now, but I never really understood how to use it. Every time I tried to create something I didn't save my last work, or didn't know how to export it. Well I figured it out and it's kind of addicting! This one is me channeling my dream day sailing. Truthfully, I'd like to wear these things even if I weren't out on the water! I've been having a real obsession with oxfords and hats lately

It's raining here, so if ever there were a day to be dreaming about being out on the water, today is that day! What have you been obsessed with lately? xo, Meghan

Photo Challenge Updates: week 8

This week and weekend went by so fast! Normally the weekends seem to fly by, but not normally the weeks. It seems especially long whenever Bean isn't getting home until after 9 each night. I've filled my week and weekend up with a bunch of fun things for Dakota and I so that we won't miss Bean as much. One of which being trying on my first ever wedding dresses tomorrow! I am not the retail store type, at all, when it comes to wedding dresses but I'm going just so I can get measured and further my belief that I cannot replace the dress I have my heart already set on. I can't wait to share the dress!

On a more related note....I've decided that, due to my lack of taking the prompt pictures on Instagram, I'll be posting the recap once a month! Feel free to still follow along via web.stagram or on Instagram (@ahoynative) if you have it! Dakota has been a dancing machine lately, and I just happened to catch her in the middle of one of her high spirited run-around-the-room-crazy-energy dances! I love running around dancing with her, it's the best!

Hope your weekend was just what you wanted. xo, Meghan

Songbird Saturday #19

Today is going to be a great day! Bean is home (first Saturday he hasn't worked in a while!) and tonight we're going to see Casting Crowns with his fam. I'm really excited! Dakota slept in -kind of, I'm on my third cup of coffee, we're going to get a new piece of furniture filled with beautifully old photos (I'll share more later!) and I'm wearing a pretty dress. I know today is going to be the best day! I hope you have nothing less than the same! XO, Meghan

Deliciously Sew // Pouch + Clutch Update!

The pouches are my other favorite thing to make! It's so fun to shop for the perfect fabrics. I could spend all day browsing stores, or scouring the internet. I also love buying zippers, the perfect color zipper can make a pouch even more cute. I recently bought some really great fabrics and I've been having a great time making clutches. It's so hard to list them, because I want to keep them all! You can find all of the new pouches + clutches in our shop! We've listed a few of our Spring/Summer pouches and clutches, but we will be adding a lot more when Spring actually comes, so keep your eyes peeled! What's your favorite?! xo, Meghan

This Week + a Movie Trailer

This week I:

-Found this video (via Bri) and I cannot stop listening. It's so good.
-Spent a lot of time thinking about my blog, and what I want it to be.
-Watched a bunch of vlogs on blogging (ha) including this awesome one.
-Painted my nails to look like scallops.
-Decided to profesh. redo my blog, and am so excited dreaming up ideas!
-Added a bunch of cute plushies to the shop!
-Had a lot of play time with our awesome neighbors, and loved it!
-Tried the no heat curl, and then did it again the next day!
-Found this blog and fell in love. Her outfits are so dreamy!
-Got a super cute shirt + ate some yummy frozen yogurt. (Taro please!)
-Bought the Fun. CD and still only liked the two songs that are on the 7 inch. I hope it will grow on me!
-Told Bean we need to rent this movie this weekend. It's at redbox, and it's directed by Ben Nichols brother, Jeff Nichols. Who knew?!

What was your week like? I'm looking forward to this weekend! I'm hoping to get some much needed time with Bean. He's been working overtime for the past month and a half, I'm ready to do something fun! xo, Meghan

Deliciously Sew // Owl Plush Update!

This update was so much fun to do! I think that making plushies is the most rewarding thing to make! (that and pouches/clutches, but that's for tomorrow!) It's so fun to have a job creating adorable things daily! I just wanted to let you know that we have reduced the price of the felt plushies! We've also created some super cute ones that you can even customize the felt colors on. They're bigger and have a few more special details; like the vintage sheets, pillowcases, and fabrics I've been collecting and saving! I kind of want to put them everywhere! I plan on making one for our bed for sure.

I'll be sharing another update in our shop tomorrow! Hope you have a great Thursday, so close to the weekend! xo, Meghan

Photo Challenge Updates: Week 7

Holy cow, it's Wednesday am I'm just now sharing this. Yikes! For some reason, I feel bad when I don't post things *on time* as I say I'm going too. I realize this is super silly because I'm the one who creates these imaginary deadlines, and that's just what they are...imaginary! I guess I just hate saying I'm going to do something, and then not do it. This week, I only have my 52 weeks of instax project. I've been kind of slackin' on instagram, and I don't even know why. I took this at our last craft show, and because it was so cold i'm guessing, it took like 10 minutes to develop! It was solid white, and I was worried that it didn't take so I took another one. Well, it did take, and I had two identical pictures, so I gave the other one to Angela! BFF craft show pictures :) Also, can I just say how much I love the sheet in the background? L-O-V-E it, and want to put it on everything.

We've been busy working on an update for DS, and I'll share it tomorrow! A lot of cute things, including a clutch like the one I had in this outfit post! What are you up to on this Wednesday? xo, Meghan

I'm getting a little nerdy over here!

Today is Kurt Cobain's birthday. I can't help but remember it every year because A. he's my favorite and B. after many mountain dew fueled research nights in my middle school years (I thought I was so bad staying up past midnight!) I basically read everything there is to know about him. I was borderline obsessed for a few years! I've since learned how to handle liking something so much. In celebration I listened to the Unplugged CD today. As soon as Bean gets home were going to watch the DVD of it..little does he know! ;) It's my favorite CD of theirs, besides In Utero! Here's to you Kurt. I guess you really did burn out, because you sure as hell haven't faded away.

PS- This is my favorite song off of the Unplugged CD. I love it where at the end, he pauses and takes a deep breath. Oh my favorite! Anyone else love Nirvana as much as I do? How are you celebrating his birthday? I'm sorry for the uber nerdiness here! XO, Meghan

What I wore: Easy Like Sunday Morning

Green jeans!! I am so excited about these. For a while, I really hated colored jeans. I know, crazy right? I'm glad to say that I am no longer naive about the power of a colored jean. Since before Christmas I've been dreaming of owning a green pair. So, if I seem extra happy in these photos, it's because I just crossed 'green skinnies' off my MUST get list! I've already added powder pink to the same list. Can we just talk about this hat for a second? I had the perfect straw fedora that Bean had gotten me on a beach trip a few years ago. Well, last summer on the way to warped tour I made the mistake of putting it in my suitcase. I had to lay that poor sad hat to rest. Since then, I've been on the look out for the perfect hat while thrifting to replace her, to no avail. So when I spotted this one (and it was the only one!) my heart did a little dance for joy and I quickly headed to the checkout with it. Something about the brown + black combo I really love lately.
    Outfit Details:
Green Jeans, Target // Shirt, Forever 21 // Sweater, Old Navy // Hat, Forever 21 // Necklace, gift from Ang // Houndstooth Clutch, Deliciously Sew // Moccasins, Minnatonka // Photos courtesy of Angela!

PS-Aren't these photos awesome? Bean normally takes my outfit photos (or I do!), but he was busy yesterday so Angela took them for me. We had to rush to take them in between massive storm clouds that kept blowing in and making everything dark and eerie. I love Bean for putting up with me always begging him to take pictures, but it's just that much easier having another lady taking the pictures. I have already warned Ang that I plan on begging her to take them now! Girls just get it, you know?

How was your weekend?  XO Meghan!

Songbird Saturday #18

Today Dakota and I are heading out to try and find some thrifting treasures! I'm hoping weather permits today, because lately it has been one big raindrop around here. When Bean gets off work (he's still working that pesky overtime!) we're going birthday present shopping. Yay! Hope you have a wonderful Saturday!

Craft *Room* Tour: behind the scenes!

I say *room* because I really shouldn't be in here! We have a two bedroom apartment, a lot of crafting supplies, and not a lot of room to store them. The shape of our living room to kitchen makes a big L with the dining room being a galley between the two. We don't have the luxury of having a dining room table (apparently I'm pretty picky, even though it was Bean who passed up the perfect yellow Formica table and chairs set!) and our dining room sat empty for months. Cue me, having the genius idea to make this my craft space! I honestly can't remember what we had in here before, other than our tiny (adorable!) china cabinet, and at Christmas, our Christmas tree. This little room has taken on quiet a few faces though, because it was also the pass-through with all of the food for Dakota's first birthday. I think it's so fun to walk through here to the kitchen, and see all the colors and cute fabrics, projects in the works and "organized chaos." This obviously isn't my dream space, but it's perfect for my + our needs right now. It works + serves it's purpose and, I have almost enough space (minus the huge 3 drawer rubbermaid in Dakota's closet!) I also like that during the day if I need to be in here, she can be playing/watching Yo Gabba Gabba in the living room and I can see her, but still have a gate up if she can't be in here. For now, I'll just be dreaming up the perfect, detached, studio with actual storage space to call my own.
As you can see, it's still a work in progress! If I had my way, I'd cover the walls with pretty art and pages torn from books and magazines but, I don't think Bean would like that very much! What would your dream craft space look like, or do you already have your dream craft space? xo, Meghan

Deliciously Sew at Hudson Park

This past Saturday DS attended a Valentines event just outside of Tallahassee. It required us to be up by 5:30 and on the road by 6:15. It was barely above freezing, and both of our boys were working. It seemed like the odds were against us, and truthfully, the ended up being not in our favor. We brought a lot of new items (read: actual plushies, rings, pouches, clutches, and onesies!) and our usual array of cuteness + yummy treats, but between the bitter coldness, wind, chance of rain, and the area we were in/type of crowd it was hard to be positive! We even had what we call "The Mule Day" incident, which I can't even speak of because it's so awful! None of that stopped us from having a good time! With all of these bad events you'd think I'd have walked away less than thrilled, right? No way! The booth was ADORABLE, both Angela and I looked super cute, the conversation was fun, and the corn dogs were good (nom). Even though we didn't make a lot of money (only enough to cover our next show, which is only a few weeks away!!) we both worked super hard and had fun, and you can tell.

Now, I'm going to leave you with a few too many photos of our day! Hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed taking them! XO, MB
