Good morning and happy Saturday! Today my mom, Bean's mama, Angela, and myself are going to a few flower shops to order flowers for the wedding! So exciting! Today playlist consists mostly of The Head & The Heart, with a few random songs in between. I own Angela big for telling me about this band. They are so cute and sweet. One of my new favorite for sure! Tell me what you think of them. What are you up to today? xo, Meghan
Today I am feeling overly sappy! It may be because of all of the wedding planning here lately, or the fact that I watched the Notebook at 11 o'clock by myself last night. Either way, this playlist is reflective of my overly sensitive "i love you" mood. ha. Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday! Today Angela + I are making our hair cotton candy colors, fun! xo. Meghan
Well hello Saturday! So good to see you! Today Bean is off, and I am so glad. We plan to make leaps in bounds in the wedding department; including making a registry. I remember making one for Dakota before she was born, and it was so fun. Now this will be stuff for us, not baby! I'd like to open up the comments to any tips or ideas when registering. Are there really any rules? I know it's been a while since I've done a playlist (shame shame) but I wanted to share one I've been listening to a lot this week. Hope you enjoy and have a lovely Saturday! xo.
Today Angela and I are headed to the beach! It was originally supposed to be a group (of 8) over-night trip, and that would have been so fun, but both of our boys have to work Saturday. So we decided to go without them! ;) Today's playlist consists of songs that remind me of summer. Windows down, sun on my skin, singing along, and just the general feeling of independence and a free spirit. I'll only be *care free* for the day, because we will be driving back home tonight. I couldn't leave my two babes behind on a Sunday morning. That would be unthinkable! Hope you have a lovely Saturday! xo, Meghan
Today is going to be a great day! Bean is home (first Saturday he hasn't worked in a while!) and tonight we're going to see Casting Crowns with his fam. I'm really excited! Dakota slept in -kind of, I'm on my third cup of coffee, we're going to get a new piece of furniture filled with beautifully old photos (I'll share more later!) and I'm wearing a pretty dress. I know today is going to be the best day! I hope you have nothing less than the same! XO, Meghan
This week has been pretty relaxed. Bean went back to work on Tuesday, so Dakota and I mainly stayed home reading and watching a lot of Netflix (she says "Gabba!" please). It's been nice to be able to, dare I say, do housework, catch up on things and stay in jammies until well after lunch if we please! I just have a small playlist that I've had on repeat around the house. Sometimes you just need a day (or in our case a week) of relaxing! I hope your Saturday is lovely. I''m off to try and turn my dining room into my crafty space. xo!
If you're anything like me, you're excited for a New Year. Yet, I find myself feeling heavyhearted about leaving this year. It's been such a wonderful year. 2011 has been good to my family and myself, but that makes me even more excited about what 2012 has in store for us. I know that God has big plans for this up coming year of our lives, and I just can't wait to be a part of it all! I thought I'd try to create a little playlist full of both New Years Eve songs, and songs you can dance too. Because who doesn't like to dance on NYE? Both of these lovely ladies, Rachel and Rubyellen, have an awesome tradition that I think I want to adopt! Family NYE dance party, that sounds like fun! Dakota really loves to dance, so I'm sure she'd have a blast. I hope your New Year's Eve is spent in something sparkly, with friends and family, dancing and counting down. I'm working on my resolutions post. Have you made any yet? What are your favorite New Years songs? I'd love to add more to my personal playlist! xo, Meghan
So, I had originally planned to post this playlist the Saturday before/after Bean and I's anniversary. That didn't happen, so I'm going to share it with you now! Before we officially considered ourselves dating, he made me a mix-tape. I remember the night he gave it to me, I went home and listened to it on repeat all night. And I'm sure several days after that...okay weeks and months. I still listen to it now, because some of those bands were/have become my favorite bands. Anytime I listen to a song from that mix, it takes me back to winter time, sitting in my room, looking at books, being awkward because we were young and well, awkward. I couldn't quite find all of the songs that he put on there, so I just added a few that have grown to our personal mix-tapes to each other throughout the years. Anyway, enough with the sappyness. Enjoy the playlist!
How about a bunch of songs that just make you feel good? Or make you want to dance, make you want to sing. Remind you of a super special time. With no real relevance? That's what the playlist is! Just a bunch of songs that I really enjoy. If you know these songs, sing along! If you have no idea, give them a chance and let me know what you think!
Today consists of making cake pops, a trip to Target, and cleaning out my self proclaimed, dining room actually turned, craft room. We've got to make room for our Christmas tree! Still not getting it until at least Friday, but it's nice to be prepared. I've cleaned out a lot of my craft stuff in preparation for moving it to a new space, and I've come across a lot of stuff I no longer use, or have never used. I'm thinking I want to give it to someone! If you'd be interested in some new to you craft supplies, leave a comment and I'll see what I can do! Happy Saturday
Last night Bean and I bundled up and went out to see Lucero play. For as much as we love them, we have never actually seen them play! Only once at Warped Tour, but I don't think that really counts. It was Veterans Day and they were having something after Lucero played so they were on a strict schedule. Nonetheless, it was extremely fun. Picture everyone dancing and singing along. I thought I'd share some of my favorites of Lucero's, especially because I forgot to take any pictures. Hope you enjoy!
Today's playlist is brought to you by: Eddie Vedder. I have to admit, for years and years, I hated Pearl Jam solely on the fact that I thought Kurt Cobain hated him. (I'll save me love affair with Kurt for another time) Anyway, I enjoyed a few Pearl Jam songs here and there, Yellow Ledbetter, but only in secret and few and far between out of respect for Kurt. I am slightly obsessed. It wasn't until I read, then later saw, Into the Wild that I decided to give the front man a chance. This soundtrack is awesome. I love love love this movie, but I really love the soundtrack. I find myself listening to it more when the weather is colder and I want to be inspired. This is one of the few movies I can watch constantly and always be refreshed and inspired by it. If you haven't seen the movie yet, I highly suggest you do! He has put out two? solo records since then, and I've herd a few songs off of each, and I'm not disappointed. I like Eddie Vedder, I'm sorry Kurt!
Happy Saturday! I am typing this with over 10 hours of sleep!! I am amazed to say that Dakota slept in, way in. Were headed to the Havana Pumpkin Festival, and every one is pretty excited about it.
Today's playlist is very near and dear to my heart. The Format is honestly one of my all time favorite bands. I herd about them through my friend Kyle. Well, little did I know that my very own Bean was friends with Kyle and had turned him on to The Format. Small world, isn't it? Later, when Bean and myself started dating, The Format was one of themany things we had in common and liked to chat over. Our favorite song just happened to be the same one, On Your Porch. Love. I'm so bummed that they are on a "hiatus." I'm hoping and praying and doing rain dances hoping that they have a reunion show. Because I've never seen them, and Bean has. And that's just not fair! If they do have a reunion show, and it's in Arizona, anyone willing to fly me out? No? I didn't think so. Don't worry, I'll make it work! Pretty sure my entire wedding playlist will consist of these guys. I hope you love them as much as I do!
Today's playlist is extra super special to me! Do you ever hear a song and are instantly taken back to a memory? Well I am. I've always herd that scent is the closest thing tied to memory, but I really think that it's sound and music. Colour Revolt is a band from Mississippi that Bean showed me when we first started dating. It was fall/winter time when I first listened to them on a mixtape he had given me. So every time I listen to these songs (especially the EP) I'm taken back to cooler weather and the first feelings of looooove. This morning was so crisp and really fall like, so I thought these songs were perfect!
You might have noticed, I'm using grooveshark. Well playlist.com didn't have all the songs I wanted. I'm not sure if i'm going to make a switch for good, but I'm glad that I could find these songs elsewhere today.
Today while Bean is away, Angela and myself are going to finish everything on our to do this for next weekend! We have almost everything done, but I'm most excited about doing a mock table set up. Things seem most real to me when they are tangible and I can see all of our hard work paid off. Soo excited! Happy Saturday!
Oh no! I can't believe time slipped away from me today. We had a really busy day today. The good kind of busy, not the 'I'd rather be doing anything else' type of busy. I'll talk more about that tomorrow, but it was a nice day. I wanted to squeeze this post in before it's officially tomorrow. I've got three minutes to spare! These are all good ole' favorites. Maybe you'll know some, or maybe you'll find a new favorite. Hope your Saturday was lovely. Enjoy!
ps, the Ryan Adams song has special meaning to Bean and I. If we had a "song" that would surly be it!
Yay, it's that time of week again! Can I just say how much I love putting together playlists? I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy putting them together!
This week's playlist features Dear & the Headlights, one of my favorite bands! They have two amazing CDs, both of which I am constantly listening to! They're one of those bands that has great music, but even more great lyrics.
I was lucky enough to have seen them at Warped Tour '09. They put on such a great show and everyone was singing along and dancing. I'm so sad to say that in July of this year they put out a letter saying they were no longer going to make music together. Talk about heartbroken! If you find that you like them as much as I do and want to get your hands on some of their music you can here. I've actually got my eye on one of their shirts for Christmas! If you were hoping they had some sort of demos type of CD and you didn't see one, don't fret! They released this and now you can download freely all of their demos! I did, and love it!
Hi, I hope you're having a great Saturday! I'm very excited because one of my high school friends is getting married today! Bean will be on his way home in few hours and then we will all go to the wedding. Such a happy time!
Today's playlist consist mostly of the Avett Brothers. I love them, and I'm lucky enough to have seen them here a few years ago with Bean. Such a fun show! Hope you enjoy :)
I'm happy to announce that 'Songbird Saturday' will be a weekly feature! Each Saturday I'll post a song, or a few, that I'm either really into at that moment or maybe one that's describing my mood, or just one I've loved. Who knows where the music will take me!
This weeks first up is City and Colour. I've loved Dallas Green, and City and Colour for quite sometime now. His voice is like butter and their songs fit the bill for any and every emotion you may be feeling. He's honest in his songwriting and there is such a pureness that I really enjoy! This is off of their newest album Little Hell, and I haven't had a chance to buy it yet, but I know I will soon! They have 2 others which you can purchase from their website. Right now, I cannot get the playlist to work properly on the blog, so I'll post from YouTube today until I get it up and running. Without further ado:
