Recipe: Blended Coffee Treats!

Today I have a yummy recipe to share with you! Coffee Treats! My mom used to make these for special occasions, or by a sweet request from my brother or myself. I remember during the summer, my mom would have her bgf (best good friend) over, and she would bring her daughter, my bestie, over and we would all drink these and stay up late watching movies. Fun! Here is how you can make yours:
Coffee Treats Recipe, makes 2-6 servings. -depending on what size glasses you serve your drinks in.

What You'll Need: A Blender // A Mexican espresso maker or a coffee pot if you don't have one.
Ingredients: Coffee Ice Cream // Espresso // Flavored Creamer (we used French Vanilla, but if you have a favorite, use it!) // Whipping Cream // Ice cubes // Sugar // Cinnamon (optional)
Steps:  1. Make your espresso as strong or not so as you'd like. If you're using a coffee pot, you'll want to make at least 3 cups. 2-4. While your espresso is making, add  6-8 scoops of coffee ice cream to your blender. Add half about 6 cubes of ice (more or less depending on the consistency you'd like.). Add half a cup of your flavored coffee creamer, and a tablespoon of sugar  5.  Add your Espresso to the blender. Again, add as much or as little as you'd like. I recommend adding at least a cup. More if you're looking for a pick me up! Less if you'd like a sweet treat before bed. 6-7. Blend all ingredients together. Add more coffee ice cream and ice if it's not thick enough. Pour into glasses, top with whipping cream and cinnamon and enjoy!

A big thank you to my mama for coming over and helping me make these, take pictures, and drink all the leftovers! Let me know if make these! I plan on making some this morning, to tackle my massive to do list! xo, Meghan

This Week:

Flashback Friday. Last June at Jacksonville Beach, on our family vacation.

This week I:
-Went to the beach with Angela, and had some much needed retail therapy.
-Celebrated my birthday!
-Share my first of hopefully many collections post.
-Put the finishing touches on my 20 before 21 list! (If you didn't catch that, I turned 20 on Monday!)
-Found this print and thought it looked JUST like me.
-Photographed a yummy recipe for the blog.
-Went to a Mary Kay party, fun!
-Had Jared put new strings on my guitar. I'm so excited to start playing again!
-Ate frozen yogurt, twice.

I ran a ton of errands with Dakota today. What did you do? xo, Meghan

What I wore: Birthday Girl

Outfit Details: Jeans, birthday gift from my mom! Target // Button Up, gift from Bean! French Toast // Shoes, Forever 21 // Ring, c/o Kintage

This was my birthday day outfit. It wasn't exactly what I pictured myself wearing on my birthday (I was thinking more a dress/oxfords combo) but when my mom gifted me these green jeans I was so excited to wear these asap! You may remember these green jeans, and I assure you they are a different color, which is awesome! That brings my colored jean count up to 3 pairs. I already have my eyes on another red pair (it's completely acceptable to buy the same color in different shades/ hues right?) and a white pair, which I guess isn't actually a color at all. ;)

So the jeans were a gift from my mom. Which brings me to this button up, which is from Bean! I've been wanting to order from French Toast for a while now, but they are for kids, and their sizing chart was SO foreign to me that I had no idea what size I was supposed to be. Plus/junior/regular, I had no clue. I reached out to Diana on Instagram, and she helped me out a lot! I ended up just ordering the largest size, and the second to largest size in the kiddos shirt to see which would be better. The smaller of the two was still a bit more loose than I would have liked, so I washed them in hot water and then dried them with extra heat hoping they would shrink. Thank goodness they did!

All in all, it was a wonderful birthday. I spent the day shopping with my little girl, running around outside with her, and having my mom come over to help me make Coffee Treats for the blog! (i'll be sharing the recipe next week!) I ended it with my favorite: broccoli cheese soup and Monk in bed with Bean. The perfect day from start to finish.

Collections: Stationary + Journals

Maybe I'm a super nerd, but ever since I was a kid I have always adored paper supplies. I remember getting so excited at the end of the summer to go "school supply shopping" and I would always stack my composition notebooks, lined (college ruled) paper, planners, and folders in pretty piles. Truthfully I never used half of the stuff I convinced my mom to buy, but the love of shopping for pretty paper products is still something I very much believe in.
I have a constantly growing collection of stationary and journals. Whenever I go into Target or the bookstore, it's a sure bet I'm going to browse the stationary. There are just so many pretty journals/notebooks/cards/stationary out there that I want to add to my collection (and I usually do!) There is only one problem....I hate to use it. I'm so afraid that once I use it, it will be filled up and I'll never get a do over. So for now, almost all of them (and that isn't even all of them!) sit on shelves throughout the house, looking pretty.
When I was little my grandma sent me a stationary set that had little kittens all over them, just like this happy camper set. It even had little matching stickers + envelopes. Totally 90's and totally awesome! Also, see those adorable sticky notes by the lovely Boy Girl Party? Well Bean gave me those (along with all of the other BGP stationary) 2 Christmases ago...I've only used 3 sticky notes. Someone tell me there is a class I can attend! A Wreck This Pretty Paper class. Help me out!
I have quite a few collections, so be on the lookout, because I plan on sharing more! xo, Meghan

*PS- I am now the proud owner of a Smash Journal (in red), so mentally add that to this collection! Happy Wednesday!

Photo an Hour: Our Friday

I love looking at blogs with 'A photo an Hour' posts. It's a simple easy way to get a glimpse into someones life. Plus, they seem really fun! This past Friday I decided to take a photo an hour. I only managed to do it from 8 to 4 because we had to rush off at 5 to go see the Hunger Games! I'm not sure why I choose Friday to do it, it's not like it was a super busy day but I had made a pretty hefty to-do list including finishing our bridesmaids boxes, meeting Angela to see the dress she picked for our wedding (swoon!) and packing for the beach. It was fun nonetheless! Here's a little peek into our day:

Have you ever done a photo an hour? I'd love to see! I plan on doing a lot more in the future. I think it would be fun to do one with film, because you wouldn't be able to take a million and one pictures finding the perfect lighting, pose, subject, etc. Happy Tuesday! xo, Meghan

Photos of a Little Meghan!

In honor of my birthday (can you guess how old I am?! If you know don't tell!) I thought I'd share some pictures of baby me! I clearly remember rocking the mullet for quite a few years, and also, those clothes should be a dead giveaway for the time I was just a young girl.

1.// My grandma holding a baby me, my cousin Jared, and my cousin Sarah.
2.// Me looking pretty adorable in those flannel pj's at Christmas! Dakota wore almost identical ones this past Christmas.
3.// Brother + sister, and random chocolate on my lip!
4.// Big blue eyes + curly hair, two things that did not carry on through to my adulthood.
5.// Jared and I, both rockin' mullets! He and I are only 11 months apart, (actually all of the 9 cousins are only a year or a little less apart in age) so we were always hanging out!
6.// Look at that awesome vest! My grandma used to make one for every season, holiday, and occasion. They even had little tags in the back to write our names. I remember I used to hate them at the time, but now I really wish I had them.
7.// I am so excited to be a big sister! The mullet of all mullets, one to rival even Billy Ray Cyrus himself! Also, look at that phone in the background...the antenna, haha.

8.// Me celebrating my 9th? maybe 10th birthday in Japan! I asked my mom to take me to McDonald's (don't judge) because it is SO much more yummy in Japan! She came and picked me up from school, and brought me back with balloons. It was one of my favorite birthdays ever!
Well I'm off to do "birthday girl" type things, like watch Amelie, paint my finger nails, put on a pretty dress, and eat Nutella. Happy Monday! XO.

What we Wore: Handmade skirts!

I made this skirt for Angela for her birthday! It's the first one I ever made --before I learned how to make the style of the one I'm wearing below. This was last Saturday, the day of a baby shower we were attending and the evening of our trio birthday party including Bean's mama. We both wore our handmade skirts (not on purpose!) and thought it would be fun to share how we each styled our handmade piece!

Angela paired her floral skirt with a super cute peter pan top, and a big black belt. Canvas oxfords complete this spring inspired look! I paired my khaki colored skirt with a black + peach polka dot crop top. I added accessories (like my hat + bow belt) in blacks in browns to pull the look together. I wore sandals for the first time this season, and the sun felt soo good on my toes!

On Angela: Skirt, Handmade! // Top, Belt + Ring,  Forever 21 // Oxfords, H&M
On Meghan: Skirt, Handmade! // Top, Belt, + Hat, Forever 21 // Sandals, Target. // Watch, Betsy Johnson

I am seriously having so much fun making things! (Confession: I've already made 4 different skirts in different patterns/colors!) Although it's super fun, I think I'm ready to move onto something a little bit different..dresses! We plan on sharing more outfits together on here, including things we've made, and just regular outfits. I hope you don't mind! Angela has a pretty awesome wardrobe, too!

Songbird Saturday: Beach Edition

Today Angela and I are headed to the beach! It was originally supposed to be a group (of 8) over-night trip, and that would have been so fun, but both of our boys have to work Saturday. So we decided to go without them! ;) Today's playlist consists of songs that remind me of summer. Windows down, sun on my skin, singing along, and just the general feeling of independence and a free spirit. I'll only be *care free* for the day, because we will be driving back home tonight. I couldn't leave my two babes behind on a Sunday morning. That would be unthinkable! Hope you have a lovely Saturday! xo, Meghan

This Week:

Last weekend from a fun shoot that we can't wait to share
This Week I:
-Made a super cute clutch + matching pouch for myself (!!!) for Spring/Summertime.
-Found this print, and fell in love. It reminds me so much of myself!
-Made plans to go to Jacksonville Beach with Angela this weekend!!
-Did a ton of Spring cleaning, including cleaning out all of the closets + dressers. They're looking very bare, so nows the time to fill the up again, right? ;)
-Found this beautiful blog.
-Did not see the Hunger Games on premier night, but that's okay because I'm going with Angela tonight to see it!
-Herd Dakota calling my name every hour last night, and not even crying.
-Listened to this beautiful song a ton.
-Ordered my wedding dress! Eeep!

This week has been slower than the past few weeks have been, and it has been graciously welcomed. I'm off to pack for a fun girls day at the beach! xo, Meghan

March 22, 2012

I mentioned it the other day that I am in love with dresses that don back details or cutouts. I already own a few dresses with pretty cutouts (one being dress F) but with so many pretty dresses out there, I can't help but dreaming of myself having a small collection of these dresses for summer! These are a few of my favorites, but like I said, they are everywhere! Urban Outfitters has a lot of pretty ones, as does Asos.

A few not pictured: One // Two // Three // Four // Five  Do you think this trend/style is pretty? What are you looking forward to wearing this summer? xo, Meghan

Birthday Wishlist Part 2

Or should I say dream list! These are things that I just like to swoon over, and things that I would never actually ask for. Except the pug. I've been asking for a pug puppy for maybe 4 years now, to no avail. I'm hoping this is the year of the pug! Don't let me down, Bean! If you were wondering what I would name my pug, I'll tell you below. I wanted to create a just for fun post of things I absolutely love, but couldn't ever ask for as a birthday gift, so I made a part two! I swear I'm not greedy, I just like to daydream :)
1.// A pug puppy! Aka, a Nugget! I'm not picky, I'd prefer a girl, in fawn, but I would really take any cute pug pup that showed up on my doorstep. I'd name the girl, Isabella, and call her Bella. (via Phineas + Ferb, because Isabella is so cute on that show!) If he was a he, I'd name him Kingston. (via this awesome Title Fight song, and I just like the name Kingston!)
2.//This satchel, from Modcloth. I'd put all of my camera accessories that I'm also wishing for in it, since we're dreaming, right?
3.//A banjo. They're just too cool. And no matter what you play, you can't sound bad!
4.// This gorgeous Rachel Antonoff dress. I don't play any trombones, but this dress is still so dreamy. There is only 4 left, and they have my size. Sign? I think yes!
5.// I don't own anything with a heel, except the shoes I just bought for the wedding (and I can't wear those!) I can totally imagine myself wearing these shoes all summer long!
6.//This bedding from UO is so so pretty!
7.//You can never have too many lenses, right?
8.//And the biggest dream of all!

xo, Meghan

Birthday Wishlist Part 1

I'm not sure about you and your family, but in this house, birthdays are not only celebrated, they're welcomed with open arms! My birthday is almost here, (March 26th) and I can't help but be excited. There has been talk of going to St. Augustine (the oldest city in Florida) to ride bikes, and a trip to the beach. Bean mentioned that he wanted to commission the French bakery in town to create a giant nutella macaroon for my birthday cake. That is a man after my own heart! Here are a few things I'm wishing/dreaming for:

1.//  These shoes are so super charming. Yes, "so super". I kind of think I need both color variations. Not pictured, both this pair, and this pair are in the back of my mind. I could pair them all easily with most everything in my wardrobe!
2.// A smash book. The whole concept seems so fun! I originally wanted one to plan for our wedding, but with it being less than 6 months away, I figured I'd probably just use it a a daily journal.
3.// I've had my eye on this pair of boots for a while now. I really like the two colors, but I just can't justify paying 80 bucks for them when a. It's about to be summer, and b. in the solid colors they are half price.
4.// A Melody Miller phone case. I really like the floral one, but I'm not picky! All three of her patterns are super cute!
5.// This super cute orange dress. I'm a sucker for stripes, and I don't own anything orange, so I think this dress was made for me. That tiny little brown bow belt doesn't hurt either! ;)
6.// This Winsome Wander Bag from Modcloth, would be so great. The scallops, tiny hearts, and coral/peach color are just lovely!
7.// I've been wanting these filters for my camera for a while. Also, not pictured, having one of these would be pretty awesome! I wouldn't have to bribe so many people to take my pictures ahem, Bean.
8.// And lastly, I would really like a basket for my bike. It would be fun to ride to get frozen yogurt and then bring it back home in my basket. Even more so, I'd like a basket on my bike with a pug puppy + big red bow inside! What? A girl can dream!

Somethings not pictured:
-This Vanilla + Lace dress in mint. (Bean's mama actually gave me this dress on Saturday at the trio birthday party, it's so pretty!)
-This shirt is so awesome! So are these sandals, and this bag.
-I've been dying to get one of these. I wouldn't mind having this cute jumper either! (Owing a Red Velvet piece is on my to-do before my next birthday list!)

Clearly, you could buy me just about anything and I would be a happy birthday girl! I'll be back to share part 2, and why there is a part two a little later! xoxo,  Meghan
